To qualify as a member of the Geospatial Society of Kenya (GeoSK), an individual must generally meet certain academic, professional and ethical standards related to the geospatial and geoinformation fields.
Minimum Qualifications
- Personal Information
- Kenyan citizen or has permanent residency in Kenya
- Must be of legal age
- Proficient in English
- Academic Qualification
- A degree, diploma, or certificate in Geospatial Information Science (GIS), Geomatics Engineering, Geography, or other related fields from a recognized institution.
- Candidates shall provide evidence of formal education and qualification in (i) above.
- Professional Experience
- Demonstrated work experience in the geospatial industry. This might include employment in roles such as GIS analysts, surveyors, remote sensing specialists, or geospatial data managers.
- Minimum years of practical experience are provided depending on the membership level (e.g., graduate, associate, or full member).
- Professional Members must have at least 3 years in Graduate membership at the time of application
- Graduate and Professional Members must have attained minimum stipulated CPD points at the previous level at the time of application
- Student Members Must be Pursuing a Geospatial Science and Technology or related program in recognised Institution.
- Professional Members must be actively involved in Geospatial Science and Technology related Professional Work.
Corporate Members
- Organization with at least 50% business in geospatial related products and services
- At least 50% staff in geospatial science and technology background
- At least 20% of staff being geoSK members
- Willing to promote Geospatial Science and Technology to all through different media to all stakeholder
